2 9689/52/O/N/17 © UCLES 2017 Translate into Tamil: The old man was worried about a hole in the roof of their house. He said to his wife that he could hear water dripping. His wife told him to stop complaining. However, every morning in the spring months, he woke her up early saying he could hear the sound of water, or pieces of the roof falling in. He searched for a ladder to climb up to look, but his wife said he was too old for this. Eventually, she found a builder willing to take a look. Climbing up the ladder, he disappeared into the roof area above the bedroom. ‘Is there a leak?’ the old man shouted. There was no answer. The old man shouted again, worried now. The builder reappeared at the top of the ladder carrying a nest with two small sparrows inside. He said a tile was broken, and the mother of the two sparrows had been flying in to feed her babies. He moved the tile back into place, and then gently took the nest with the baby sparrows outside. He carefully placed it in the garden by the trees. The old couple slept without any disturbance after that. [40] … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
