Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of pastlit.com. Reading past papers is free and needs no account; the terms below matter most if you create an account or buy a subscription.

PASTLIT (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED · Effective 17 September 2026 · Terms · Privacy · Refunds

1 · Who we are

Pastlit is operated by PASTLIT (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED, a single member private company incorporated in Pakistan under the Companies Act 2017 and based in Rawalpindi, Pakistan(“Pastlit”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@pastlit.com.

2 · The service

Pastlit is a study platform for Cambridge examinations. It has two parts:

  • A free library of past examination papers, mark schemes and topical question banks, readable by anyone without an account.
  • Study tools — on-screen practice with automated marking, a paper builder, downloads, progress and weakness tracking, class sharing for teachers, and progress visibility for linked parents. Some of these are free with an account; some need a paid subscription. The pricing page says which is which.

By using pastlit.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

3 · Free access

Reading a paper, a mark scheme or a topical bank on Pastlit never requires an account and never will. We do not put content behind a login. Accounts exist to personalise the tools around the content, not to gate the content.

4 · Accounts and age

You can create an account as a student, a teacher or a parent. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything done under your account. Give us accurate information and keep it current.

Under 13: you may not create an account. 13 to 17: you may create an account only with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms on your behalf. Pastlit is built for students sitting Cambridge IGCSE, O Level and A Level examinations, who are typically 14 to 18; see our Privacy Policy for how we treat information about young people.

One person, one account. Do not share your account, and do not use anyone else’s. We may limit the number of devices or simultaneous sessions an account can use, and may suspend an account where we have reasonable grounds to believe it is being shared.

5 · Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans and their prices are set out on the pricing page. Prices are in US dollars and are the same everywhere in the world.

Our payments are handled by Paddle. Paddle.com Market Limited and its affiliates (“Paddle”) act as the merchant of record: Paddle sells the subscription to you, takes the payment, issues the receipt, and applies any sales tax or VAT due where you live. Your card or bank statement will show a charge from Paddle (for example PADDLE.NET* PASTLIT). Paddle’s own buyer terms also apply to the transaction.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period — monthly or yearly, depending on the plan you chose — until you cancel. We will remind you by email before each yearly renewal, and we will give you at least 30 days’ notice before any price change takes effect on a renewal, so you can cancel first if you do not agree.

You can cancel at any time from the link in any Paddle receipt or by emailing us. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

6 · Refunds

Our Refund Policy sets out when a payment is refundable — in short, a payment can be refunded within 14 days only if no paid feature has been used since it was made; otherwise purchases are final, and mistaken charges are always refunded. Nothing in these terms limits any statutory right to a refund you have under the law of the country you live in.

7 · Teachers, parents and sharing

Teachers can build papers and share them with students by link. Results that students submit through a shared link are visible to the teacher who shared it.

Parents can be linked to a student’s account only when the student (or the parent, with the student’s acceptance) creates the link. A linked parent can see the student’s progress. Either side can remove the link at any time.

Content you create on Pastlit — papers you assemble, answers you write — remains yours. You give us the permission we need to store it, display it to you and to the people you choose to share it with, to mark it, and to produce anonymised, aggregated statistics (for example how many students answered a question correctly) that cannot identify you.

Referrals. We may reward you for referring other people to Pastlit — for example by unlocking a feature when someone you refer creates a verified account. Referral rewards have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and are granted at our discretion. We may withhold or reverse a reward where we detect abuse, such as self-referral or accounts created only to trigger a reward, and we may change or end the referral programme at any time.

8 · Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download the library or any part of the service by automated means;
  • redistribute, sell or publicly re-host papers, question banks or downloads obtained from Pastlit;
  • circumvent usage limits, sharing gates or subscription checks, or share one account between people;
  • upload anything unlawful, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights;
  • interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or impersonate anyone;
  • use the service, or any content on it, for text or data mining, or to develop, train, fine-tune or validate any artificial-intelligence system or model, whether by automated means or by inputting our content into such a system.

We expressly reserve our rights in respect of text and data mining, including for the purposes of Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790. This reservation applies to the fullest extent the law allows.

9 · Intellectual property

Past question papers, mark schemes and examiner reports are the property of Cambridge Assessment International Education. Pastlit is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Cambridge Assessment International Education or Cambridge University Press & Assessment. Cambridge’s materials are provided on Pastlit for personal study and classroom use, and remain subject to Cambridge’s own rights.

Everything else — the Pastlit name, the software, the way papers are assembled, the marking, the topical organisation and the design — belongs to Pastlit or its licensors. You may use it through the service as these terms allow, and not otherwise.

10 · Availability, warranties and liability

We work hard to keep Pastlit accurate and available, but we provide it “as is”. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that automated marking will always agree with an examiner, or that any particular result in an examination will follow from using it.

Automated marks, model answers and explanations on Pastlit are our interpretation of a question and its mark scheme. They are a study aid, not an official or definitive answer, and may differ from what an examiner would award or from the method taught at your school. Check anything that matters against the examination board’s own published materials.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Pastlit’s total liability to you for anything arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid for your subscription in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11 · Ending things

You can close your account at any time by emailing us. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it. If a paid account is closed for breach, no refund is due for the remaining period. If we withdraw a paid feature entirely, we will tell you before your next renewal so you can decide whether to continue.

12 · Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will give reasonable notice by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance of the updated terms.

13 · Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the courts of Rawalpindi have jurisdiction over any dispute — without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection you are entitled to under the law of the country you live in.
