2 9689/05/O/N/16 © UCLES 2016 Translate into Tamil: At the station, I phoned my wife to tell her that my train was delayed. While waiting, I bought a magazine from a stall and went to a café for refreshments. I ordered a cup of tea and a small packet of biscuits. The café was very busy, so I shared a table with a stranger. He was drinking his coffee and reading his newspaper. After a short time, the man opened the packet of biscuits which was lying in the middle of the table. He took one and ate it. I was quite surprised that he was eating my food and I didn’t know what to do. I looked at him for a moment. I took a biscuit too and crunched it loudly so that he would know that the biscuits were mine. A minute later, the man ate another one. We ended up eating all six biscuits in turn. When the packet was empty, the man finished his coffee and left. I was very angry at him for not even saying ‘thank you’. When I got up, I picked up my magazine. What a shock! Underneath, I found my own packet of biscuits. I felt very ashamed of myself. [40] … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
