Section A Answer both questions. Cotton and polyester fibres are often used in fabric construction. 1 State how the following fibres are obtained: (a) Cotton fibres [2] (i) Polyester fibres [2] (ii) Describe the results of an examination under a microscope of cotton fibres and polyester fibres. [4] (b) Explain how the absorbency of cotton fibres affects cotton fabrics. Give examples of products to support your answer. [7] (c) Evaluate the advantages of using a cotton and polyester blended fibre, instead of 100% cotton fibre. Give examples of fabrics and garments to support your answer. [6] (b) Discuss why many garments have a short fashion lifecycle. [7] (c) Evaluate the advantages of using Computer-aided design (CAD) to design fabrics.
